Call it the binary nature of humans. Or, maybe, it's our dumbed-down media's fault. Look at all the polar opposites in our culture. Time for a third party?
You may have a point about human nature and the media.
As far a third party goes, I would support that in theory. Perhaps the hard-line wings of each party should break off. I see that's long since happened in your adopted home state.
